Nurturing Independent, Aspirational Learners. Supported by Strong Partnerships with Home and the Community

Welcome back Class 3,

I hope you all enjoyed your two weeks ‘Not TT’ holidays and are looking forward to learning and discovering new and exciting skills and information.

This week we will pick up on a science topic that we had been investigating in class earlier in the year.

Living Environments - Classifying Animals

The first thing I would like you to attempt is the Animal Classification fact Finding challenge. If you have access to a printer you could print off the templates i have created for you or you could just record your answers in a note book that you have already been recording your learning.

Here is a .pdf example 1_Animal_Classifcation_Fact_Finding_Challenge.pdf

Living in Environments - Identifying British Plants

The next lesson involves reading the powerpoint presentation and then completing either worksheet 5A or 5B (using the plant cards) You may wish to use other sources of information to help you identify the features correctly.

Living in Environments - Human Impact on Habitats and Environments

For the second lesson you will need to read the slideshow for exploring human impact on habitats and environments and then complete all parts of the worksheets. On worksheet 6A, you will need to list as many examples as you can to show both the positive and negative effects humans can have on environments and habitats. When finished, have a think about what you can do to help support and sustain your own local environment, e.g. not dropping litter, putting out bird food, etc. (you may want to discuss this first with a grown-up or other family members). Then create a poster using the template on worksheet 6B. On worksheet 6C, you will need to write a letter to the local council to explain why the proposal to drain a local pond would be disastrous for the local environment. Read the powerpoint which will introduce you how to write a persuasive letter before you begin to write. You should list the effects this would have on the organisms that live in the habitat and use persuasive language to get the council to change their minds. If you prefer, you could use the separate letter template which is also included here.

Science Quiz

Once you have completed all the tasks you can complete The Quiz. You will need to send me you answers and I will get back to you with your score. Good Luck!
